 Lesson – travelling, lesson – excursion   
 A virtual holiday”  (7 form)

Goals:
- Practice speaking in different ways using vocabulary which has been learnt so far;
- Learn more about the sights and places of interest in London;
- Discuss images
- Practise meeting people and asking for information
- Practise expressing opinions.

Warm-up.
1 slide. The types of the holidays
Name types of holiday you’ll see on the slide. (The pictures appear one by one by clicking and children name the types of the holidays). (Time 3 min)
  1. Safari holiday
  2. Camping holiday
  3. Cycling holiday
  4. Hiking holiday
  5. Beach holiday
  6. Skiing holiday
  7. Sightseeing holiday

2 slide. Pair work.
 On the slide you can see 3 questions. Discuss them with your partners. Then tell the class about you partner. (Time 2 min.)
The s-s are telling the class about their partners. (Time 3-4 min)






Main part.
We are going to continue our lesson with a virtual journey. Holidays in London.

Slide 3. The sightseeing of London. (сперва одно название на слайде) (time 2 min)
What sights do you know in London?
(The s-s name some sights. Then by clicking the images appear)
These are not all, of course, but the most famous ones.




Slide 4. Where to go and what to see in London? (сперва одно название на слайде) (time 2 min)
So, we are going to visit some of the most famous places and learn something about them.
While watching the slides, try to remember the name of those places and what you can see there. Because after watching, we are going to do a quiz.

- The first place we are visiting is called The Science Museum. (появляются только картинки).
- What can you see in the pictures? (ответы детей, потом читаем текст)
- If you were there, which section would you like to visit and why? (ответы детей)



Slide 5. The next place to visit is Madam Tussaud’s Museum.
- Who are those people? Are they real?
- How do you think what the woman in the picture is doing? (ответы детей) What for? (появляется текст дети читают).
- Guess whose figures could be placed there? (дети отвечают) (time 2 min)



Slide 6. Guess which place of interest will be next? I’ll give you a hint. It talks about a famous detective. His name is . . . (дети называют) Шерлок Холмс.   (слайд)
So it’s The Sherlock Holmes Museum
- What’s its address? (дети называют)
- What can you see in the museum? (hats – a black bowl and a grey hat as well as a pipe, a magnifying glass and other personal things) (появляется текстдети читают) (time 2 min)


Slide 7. Globe Theatre
- What can you see here? (всплывают 2 фото)
- Who are those people?
- Where are they? (in the theatre, spectators, waiting for a play) (появляется название и текстдети читают) (time 2 min)




Slide 8.  National Gallery. We are going on. (появляются картинки) It’s a really fascinating place.
-      What can you see here? What sort of place is it? (дети отвечают появляется название и текст – дети читают) (time 2 min)





Slide 9. British Museum.This place is well-known in the world. (появляются картинки) – What can you see? (mummies , silver and gold objects, antique furniture, dishes, works of art)  
-      Where can we those items?  (museum)

Slide 10. And one more place of tourist attraction. It’s the Natural History Museum. (появляется название и картинка музея) Think what  we can see there? (появляются картинки, а за ними текст, читаем и смотрим) (time 2 min)





Slide 11. A group work. So it’s time for the quiz. Let’s check how well you remember London’s sights. This slide will give you some prompts -  the names of the sights.  (раздать задания по группам, дать время на выполнение, проверяем – на сайде появляются ответы.) (Time 5 min) + 2min)

10.       Name the place from which you can see London for miles. (London Eye)


Slide 12. Now we continue our trip. A group of pupils is in London. And they’d like to find out some information about it. So they are at a tourist office. (выходят 2 ребенка.)






Dialogue 1.   At the tourist office.    (Time 3 min)
1St. Hi, how can I help you?
2St. We’d like some information about places we can see.
1St. First of all, you need a city map. It helps you to find all tourist attractions.
2St. Thank you very much. Also, we’d like some information about transport.
1St. The best ticket is an Oyster Card. It’s for all types of transport. There’s a young person’s discount on the underground.
2St. How can we get to these attractions?
1St. Take any sightseeing tour from the city centre and enjoy your excursion.
2St. That’s great! You’ve helped us! Bye!
1St. Bye! Have a good time!

While going around the city our tourists met students from different countries. It was interesting to make friends with them. 

Dialogue 2. In the street. Before visiting Tower Bridge.  (Time 2 min)
Соня: Хорошая погода,  неправдали? (фр.)
Мила: Да, тепло и солнечно. (фр.)
Сергей Х. Excuse me, do your speak English?
Соня: Yes, sure. Where are you from?
Игорь We’re tourists from Ukraine and we’d like to see the sights. Could you tell us how to get to the Tower Bridge?
Мила: Don’t worry. We’ll show you the way there.
Сергей и Игорь: Thank you very much. Let’s go.


Slide 13. Our Students decided to go to the Tower Bridge Exhibition. (Time 5 min)
But at first they need to find out some information about it.

Slide 14. After visiting the Tower Bridge Exhibition the s-s were hungry and wanted to have a quick meal but they didn’t know where to go. They saw two girls talking to each other. (Time 3 min)






Dialogue 3. In the street.  After visiting Tower Bridge. 
Даша: Ich  möchte mit meiner Freundin ins Kino gehen. Kommst du mit?
Lisa: Ja, gerne. Wann fängt der Film an?
Даша: Um 7
Сергей Х  Strange language! Let’s ask them!
Игорь. Can I ask you a question?
Dasha: Oh, are your English?
Сергей Х. No, we’re Ukrainian. Could you tell us where there is something to eat.
Lisa: There’s a street café not far from here. We are going there.
Игорь. It sounds great. Let’s go together.
Лиза и Даша: Lets go.


Reflection/ Conclusion  (Time 3-5 min)
Some days passed and our s-s came back home. They are sharing their impressions with their parents, friends, and classmates about their journey.
